Choosing the Correct Anti-Aging Wrinkle Cream
Posted by Jennifer Tilney on Nov 30, 2014
At Platinum Skin Care, we understand that aging is a natural process of life, and we embrace that. Unfortunately, with aging comes wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and sagging skin. Knowing that removing those tell-tale signs of aging is probably at the very top of your list, we have some suggestions for you.
Restore Your Youthful Appearance
There are a number of things you can do to help slow the aging process of your skin and maintain a youthful appearance. It is important to eat a healthy diet, drink plenty of fluids, exercise regularly, and use the best anti-aging wrinkle cream for your skin type. When choosing anti-aging skin cream, there are several factors to consider to ensure you are getting the best product for your skin.
Do I need targeted specialty products?
Treating sunspots generally takes a specialty product. Most treatments must be applied first - closest to the target problem, then you can follow with an anti-aging cream for your lines and hydration. Choose a Fading product or a Vitamin C product to boost skin luminosity while fading back age spots and pigmentation. Understand that lightening pigmentation can take some time. Most of those marks have been accumulating over the years and it will take some time to fade them back. After using Fade Bright for 2-4 weeks, you may also have to add a chemical peel into your regimen. Think along the lines of Lactic Acid if you are sensitive or dry or TCA if you are not sensitive. Both are great for pigment removal.
Dealing with excessive lines?
Again, it is generally best to target those expression lines with a special product before applying your cream. Think about neuropeptides, peptides and retinols to help lessen fine-heavy lines. ReLixSyn is a great product containing peptides, neuro-peptides, Matrixyl and Matrixyl Synthe' 6 to target lines and smooth crows feet, decollete', necks and the forehead. A chemical peel will also be helpful in lessening the lines. Something mild like a Glycolic peel would be great for a beginner to use weekly. A stronger TCA peel can be used 1-2x per month as an alternative. It has been documented that after a TCA peel the skin's collagen will continue regenerating for up to 9 months. So whether or not you ever do another TCA peel again, your skin will be better in the long run having done it one time!
Can I simplify my regimen?
The easiest way to ensure you are getting a set of products that are designed for reducing the different effects of aging is by buying an anti-aging skin cream kit. Kits such as our basics combination kit contain all of the essential products you will need including a cleanser, toner, day cream, and night cream. Another premium kit is our Platinum Anti-Aging Kit, which has all the specialty products - including Epidermal Growth Factor, in one great discounted package. When you buy a skin care kit, it is often better to buy one that contains products that are suitable for all skin types, because this will allow you to try various products without the risk of using something not designed for your individual skin type.
But what if I have combination skin?
If you have combination skin, it is beneficial to purchase individual products and keep in mind you may have to try two or three different types before finding the best product for your needs. When trying to decide between the products, it is helpful to know what each type of anti-aging cream is used for. For example, there is a difference between anti-aging wrinkle cream and eye cream. The areas around your eyes are more delicate than your facial skin, so the products you choose should be designed specifically for eyes and not contain harsh ingredients. The majority of anti-aging facial creams are designed to treat a variety of skin problems, such as laugh lines, crow's feet, and deep lines on your neck. If you have brown spots, skin discoloration, or uneven skin tone, it is important to only use a product that works beneath the surface of your skin, as opposed to lightening products that may contain peroxide or other types of bleaching chemicals.
Anti-aging wrinkle creams should contain ingredients that help to stimulate the production of natural collagen and elastin as well as help repair damage. Your body naturally produces collagen and elastin, which is what keeps skin firm and youthful looking. However, as you age your body reduces the production of collagen and elastin. Products such as our GABA Super Antioxidant help to restore lost collagen and contain antioxidants that are essential for fighting free radicals. Free radicals are toxins that attack your skin cells, but using a natural antioxidant will destroy the free radicals and penetrate deep into the skin to stimulate cell production.
It always seems so difficult to pick something, we know! If you are unsure of where to start looking, start by choosing a few products that will help your most problem areas. An evening product, a day cream, eye cream and a specialty serum will get you moving in the right direction. Remember, you are not "married" to these products. If you decide you want to try something different, then after a few months you can do just that. Many people update their skin care throughout the year. Lighter creams and serums during the warmer months and heavier during winter. Your regimen will evolve as well. The most beneficial thing you can do for yourself right now is to just get started.
