Transitioning Your Skincare | Getting ready for the Holidays
We’re in-between seasons and the weather and temperatures are unpredictable. You might also have some left-over summer skin problems, such as uneven skin tone and dark spots that the sun brought out. It’s too soon to “winterize” your skin with heavy moisturizers, but you might want to get or keep your skin healthy and looking good as the seasons transition. After all, the HOLIDAYS will be here before you know it!
Here are some ideas and tips:
You needed more heavy-duty cleansing in summer, but now lighten up a little.
If you want to go really light on a cleanser, a soap like Dove Sensitive Skin (in drugstores) will take care of you, but if you still need a little power in the pores, the Basics 3-in-1 Cleanser is loaded with fruit acids and environmentally-safe scrubbing crystals.
Still peeling or experiencing clogged summer pores?
Use a gentle skin exfoliation brush with your cleanser (such as a handheld facial brush you can get in a drugstore, or a device such as the popular Clarisonic electric-powered brush. For deeper cleansing - and fighting acne, you’ll want to use a good exfoliating one with fruit acids, such as the AB Cleanser, which cleans deep into pores and accelerates the removal of dead, dull skin.
Get rid of left-over summer skin spots and discoloration and dramatically freshen up your skin:
This is just one major area of expertise at Platinum Skincare! We have preparations to target the spots, such as Fade Bright Lightening, and full anti-aging kits with an emphasis on discoloration, such as the Custom Anti-Aging and Pigmentation kit. You can even get a free consultation for peels and products just for your particular needs.
Not quite ready to “winterize” your skin?
You still need a moisturizer, just not the super-duper stuff? The perfect solution that will also give your skin a boost in brightening is the Basics Night Cream, formulated for all skin types to be a super easy, 1-step evening anti-aging solution. Multiple fruit acids, retinol, peptides, antioxidants, ceramides, botanicals, vitamins, and more.
Feeling a little dryer lately?
Hydrate and soothe your skin with the Apple Stem Cell Caviar Extract Hydration Mask. A nice treat for transitioning into fall/winter.
Sunscreen is important year-round.
Cannot emphasize it enough: Sun is the single most damaging thing for your skin. Look at your skin that has never seen the sun—such as under your arms or on your breasts or buttocks (well…)—the skin on your entire body would look like that “virgin” skin if it had been as well protected from the sun. And it’s never too late to stop the damage! Get a good sunscreen like the Cotz brand, and use it every day--because even indirect sunlight builds up in your skin and will damage it. Learn more about why sunblock is so necessary with this video.
Need a quick fix? While you are waiting for your skin to regenerate, and want to tighten up some lines and under-eye puffiness NOW, try out Lucky Potion #9. It works immediately and lasts several hours.
Just need some maintaining? If your skin is doing okay, but you’d like to see long-term improvement, one of the most important additions in your night-time routine should be the Retinol Molecular Serum --a close cousin to prescription Retin-A(tm). Many dermatologists actually prefer retinol products (I, myself, am a convert to retinol). If you are new to retinoids or have not used them in a while, start with Level 1 and move up to a stronger level once your skin has become tolerant.
