Skin Care & Skin Care Products
After I begin a new skin care regimen, when should I start noticing an improvement in my skin?
For the most part, you should notice a difference in the smoothness of your skin right away if you are using skin care products like serums and cleanser. If you’re using a peel, a 6-8 week treatment is standard and will yield very nice results. As with any skin care products, a marked improvement will take several months.
Can skin care cleanser and toner help shrink my pores?
YES! Here's how: Dirt, dead cells, makeup, and other substances can clog the pore, forming a blackhead. The blackhead stretches the opening of the pore. When the blackhead is removed, the pore becomes smaller. Using skin care cleanser and toner in a series of deep pore cleansing facial treatments, hundreds of enlarged pores are cleansed, and as a result, the pore closes. This gives the complexion a more refined appearance.
What type of skin care regimen is good for people with history of sun exposure and dry skin?
If you have dry skin, a 30% Glycolic Acid peel can significantly help remove dead skin and smooth fines lines from sun exposure. A Vitamin C Serum can also really help rebuild new collagen to replace the damaged fibers in your epidermis. It goes like this: the acid breaks down the damaged fibers and then the copper rejuvenates new fibers. Emu oil mixed with a few drops of Copper on a daily basis can also really help to bring out a fresher appearance.
If I am new to to skin care regimens and Platinum Skin Care products, Should I try trial size skin care products first?
Platinum Skin Care trial size skin care products vary in duration of use. If you are using a peel, you will get 3-4 peels which should last you 3-4 weeks. By that time, you should already be noticing a difference in your skin. For other samples like copper, cleanser and toner, they should last about a week but creams only last 1-3 days max. We have Professional Skin Care Specialists available to guide you through any questions you might have and can make skin care product recommendations that will work best for your skin type.
Acne & Acne Treatment
When it comes to your skin, there is no greater battle than acne! In order to find an acne treatment that's right for you, it is important you ask the right questions and find acne products that are the best acne solution for your skin type. From acne scarring and back acne to acne treatment kits and cream, below you will find some commonly asked questions and answers that will help you determine what might be the best solution for your acne needs. And as always, you are free at any time to contact a skin care specialist at Platinum Skin Care for all of your skin care questions, comments or concerns.
After I start using an acne treatment, how soon can I expect my acne to improve?
As acid cleansers, toners, serums and peels clear and cleanse pores, acne may initially appear to be slightly more active. Remember, the acids job is to cleanse the pores of excess dead skin and sebum. You already have acne forming under your skin that you aren't even aware of yet. It generally takes 4-6 weeks for a clogged pore to come to the surface and be seen and felt.
Since you are removing the outer layers of skin at a faster pace, the pimples that were 1,2 and 3 weeks away will come up quicker. You have to give your skin time to work these clogged pores up to the surface. Once these are out, your skin should show marked improvement; usually within 3-4 weeks.
If I have a keloid scar, which is a severe acne scar, is it likely that using a hydroxy acid in conjunction with the copper peptide serum would result in a reduction in the scar size over time?
If the type of acne scarring is from a keloid scar, it will 1st soften and then shrink in size in roughly 6 mos. If the acne scar is not a keloid scar, then you just need to follow the acne treatment for acne scarring to break down the acne scars and regenerate new collagen/elastin with the copper. We recommend you use the Super Cop 2x and probably the 60% Peel if you do not have sensitive skin.
I just purchased an Acne Treatment Kit. When do I use the acne treatment maintenance products how often do I apply the acne treatment?
Application of the peel solution is 1x per week. *You can do a spot treatment on acne pimples to speed it along 1 more time per week (but only using a Q-tip on just the acne pimple itself). The acne treatment kit then contains all the acne products you need for your daily care. It is very easy and comes with complete instructions!
I have oily skin, especially the t-zone area. Because of the acne, I have slight enlarged pores. What product do you recommend I use?
If you have acne as a result of oily skin, I would recommend Acne Treatment if you are ready to try a little bit stronger acne treatment and use the peels. As long as you do not have sensitive skin and have used stronger products before, I usually recommend the 15% Salicylic Acid for acne. If you are dealing with any type of acne scarring, I recommend upgrading to the Super Cop 2X Remodeling cream. It is used to fill in the areas where there is acne scarring after the Salicylic Acid breaks them down.
I have fair and oily skin. I have blemishes and discoloration on my face. I am interested in trying your Glycolic Acid Peel products but I am not sure of which one I should order?
Since you are dealing with acne issues I am going to recommend that you try the Acne Treatment Kit. It has a peel. The 15% Salicylic Acid is the best acid for combination acne and oily skin. Also include a 15% toner for daily and pre-peel use. We offer a cleanser choice, an Alpha Beta oily cleanser and a pimple Control Gel. Emu oil is wonderful for acne skin types as it can balance oil production and it is also an anti inflammatory and an anti bacterial product.
I have a severe problem with cystic acne. What is the best treatment for severe acne scarring?
Our Acne Treatment Kit is the best solution for treating acne scarring from cystic acne. I suggest the 12.5% TCA peel. TCA is the best choice to treat these. You will end up applying about 3 layers as you move on, but for the very first time only apply 1 layer. Move on to 2 layers, etc... Use the AB Cleanser daily and opt for a stronger copper product to help regenerate new tissues to replace the scars.
The biggest mistake people make when they have acne is to not moisturize properly. If you do not moisturize after cleansing, your skin makes up for the dryness by turning on the oil factory and going into overdrive. We like you to put on a mixture of the Copper peptide (you should opt for the super serum since you have scarring) and Emu Oil. The Emu oil is anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory and works excellent for acne prone skin.
Follow the Platinum Skin Care acne treatment program and you will see some real changes. Make sure to take a before and after picture! It will be worth $50 in free merchandise for you. You should start to see a difference in your acne and acne scarring in a month. If your acne scars are not filling in quickly enough, you may need to increase the acid strength for those areas only.
I have been using the acne scarring treatment kit for cystic acne for about 4 to 6 weeks with some improvement. What can I do to speed the process along? Is there something else I can use to enhance the results?
If you are already seeing results in 4-6 weeks, the acne scarring treatment is progressing perfectly! Remember it can take months for your skin to reach a state of personal satisfaction. Your skin is regenerating itself and that takes time. But of course there are some things you can do to enhance your results.
If you're already doing your peel 1x per week, try doing a full facial peel on your regular day and then do another spot peel only on the scars themselves about 3-4 days later. This will help to break down the scars more quickly. Also, depending on the percentage and the amount of time you are leaving the peel on, things can be adjusted. Try leaving the peel on for longer amounts of time or increase the percentage if necessary. If after several months you are ready to do a stronger peel than I highly suggest the TCA 20% or Jessners.
Once I've started the acne scar treatment kit, how long can I continue the Glycolic acid peel?
Glycolic acid is a mild peel and it generally loosens the stratum corneum and not the underlying layers (if you are looking for a deeper peel please see the TCA peel.) There are really 2 ways to decide how to proceed with the Glycolic acid peels. *Now, if you are working on acne scars, please continue treating them weekly, even if you are not doing an acne treatment on your entire face. Do your acne treatment for 6-8 weeks and then stop for another 6-8 weeks and start again. No matter which method you choose, make sure to keep things looking their best by using other acid products daily. I would suggest the cleanser and/or serum combo. If you are dealing with acne scarring in a small area, feel free to do another spot treatment on the scar only, an additional time per week to break it down more quickly.
I have an acne scarring problem from back acne. What is the best acne treatment for back acne scarring?
Generally with body scarring, I would recommend you use our 30% serum daily along with the Super Cop 2x Cream which is an anti acne scarring treatment that will help new, unscarred skin to take its place. I think you should try a 60% or 70% solution to get results, the 30% is not going to be strong enough for intense scarring from back acne. Should you decide to try this regimen on your face, please review the peel directions and lessen the formulation by putting in an additive. Our 70% comes with full instructions on how to make any percentage from 20% and up.
Anti Aging & Anti Aging Skin Treatments
I am getting a little older in age and I have an age spot here and there, what are the best anti aging skin treatments to use?
An age spot can take some time to get rid of. Daily use of a fading gel will inhibit the production of melanin. *This is highly recommended BEFORE you begin peeling to prepare the skin. You may also start to leave the peel on for a longer time frame, or reapply the acid to keep it active longer during your peel. Make sure to keep up with the Copper peptide 2x daily and if you have any Emu Oil add that on with the copper NEVER the peel to strengthen it and pull it deeper into your skin.
I am noticing lines and wrinkles from over exposure to the sun and tanning beds and I am looking for a more firm look. What anti aging skin treatments should I try first?
The first product I would reach for would be our Retinol Molecular Serum in the .20%. I would couple that with our Fade Bright 2x per day and High Octane Vitamin C during the day. The best chemical peel would be our TCA 13% at 1-2 layers 2x per month. I would definitely recommend the Emu Oil for healing after your peel. These anti aging skin treatments will render quick results!
After beginning an anti aging skin treatment regimen, how long will it take before I start seeing a difference in the lines and wrinkles on my face?
I've received many comments from my clients stating they can already see a change happening within the first few weeks of starting Platinum Skin Care anti aging skin treatment kit. But remember, it took time for those lines and wrinkles to develop and they will take time to fade. Expect to have people making comments on how great you look in about 90 days. *They will see things before you even notice them. Just continue on for even better results.
I just turned 50 and I seem to have a run down, tired look all the time. My eyes have wrinkles and bags underneath. Do you have cream that can help reduce eye wrinkle and bags under my eyes?
We have two products that are excellent for the eye area. Start with a thin layer of our Eyelift Xpress Caffeine roller. After that dries for a few seconds you can can then apply our Platinum Eyes Restoration Therapy. They are both excellent eye treatments that will really help your eye area tighten up and lessen any dark circles you may have.
We also have our brand new TCA Eye Peel Kit that would be super helpful for the eye area.
I am a male with pretty good skin tone, texture and elasticity but I do have a number of lines and wrinkles around my eyes and forehead. What is the best product you have to reduce or remove these wrinkles and fine lines?
Platinum Eyes is a great cream for treating wrinkles or lines around the eyes. It can be used every day to rejuvenate and instantly tighten your eye area. For the forehead, you will want to use the Retinol daily for tightening. A TCA peel 1x every month should really aid in tightening up the forehead area as well. GABA or Derma Snap 8L can be used daily to target your problem areas for instant tightening.
After I start Using your Platinum Eye treatment cream, how long before I start noticing a difference?
Most of the customers at Platinum Skin Care report seeing a difference in the wrinkles and lines in their eye area within 1-2 weeks.
I have some age spots on my face from the sun and pronounced furrows between my brows and over my eyebrows along with small wrinkles around the mouth area. What is the best anti aging treatments for these problems?
Prepare your skin with Retinol Molecular Serum + Fade Bright for about 2 weeks. Then, choose our TCA 13% acid peel and do an all over face peel. Begin with 1-2 layers and spot treat an extra layer on your biggest problems.
We also have our New Lip Peel Kit which has the stronger 20% TCA + Luminosity + Syn-TC. You can do this targeted peel 1x per month.
I have loose skin on my neck. What type of anti aging products do you recommend?
Copper Peptide is extremely beneficial for tighten things up. Another anti aging product suggestion would be the Vitamin C Serum and the Molecular Retinol .30%. These anti aging products will help tighten and protect from radicals!
What should I do if I experience swelling around my eyes after using the anti aging copper eye cream I bought for wrinkles and lines?
If you see swelling, you're using too much copper. It's a very strong product and you need the tiniest amount you can apply. Think like the amount of lead that's sticking out of a dulling pencil tip. Keep in mind the jar should last you a year! Make sure you are only using the copper 1x per day to begin with, trust me... you will have no problem using more cream when your skin becomes adjusted to its strength.
This is a difficult area to rebuild and must be done gradually. Try some of the suggestions below, they are directly from Dr. Pickart:
- Because this skin may be already badly damaged, start with a very light coating of Intense Regenerating Eye Cream then gradually increase the amount applied with time. If you experience irritation, this means that too much copper peptide is passing through a very damaged skin barrier.
- Another approach is to try Emu Oil one night to replenish skin lipids, then the Copper Eye Cream every second night.
- You can also try applying the eye cream while the skin is still wet from cleansing.
- As your skin barrier is repaired, you will become less sensitive to any applied material. With time, the skin around your eyes should tighten and firm.
- If you experience excessive dryness, use a little less of the copper peptide products and cover them with a light amount of Emu Oil.
